Stock markets ended the month of April in a downtrend, mainly due to concerns about the spread of a COVID-19 infection. The performance of the CG Top 20 stocks over the month outperformed the Topix and JPX400, limiting the decline.
In April, the stock market closed lower as traders took stock of their positions before the end of the month and the start of the Golden Week holiday season amid decreasing expectations of economic normalization, including the declaration of a third state of emergency. The Topix and JPX400 lost -2.82% and -2.93% respectively during the month, while CGTop20, the top CG rating scorer, outperformed with a -1.32% decline.
